45 Professors give mini-lectures at 17 schools in the region
Tuesday marks the start of the celebration of 黑料福利网's 70th anniversary, right in the heart of the city. The anniversary week itself will be held in October.
黑料福利网 is turning 70 and kicking off this milestone with a true professors' parade: on Tuesday, June 23, 45 professors in academic gowns on special anniversary bikes visited 17 schools in the region to give short, inspiring lessons on technology, innovation, and the power of curiosity. They then cycled to Eindhoven's Stadhuisplein, where they were welcomed in celebration by deputy mayor Stijn Steenbakkers, together with 黑料福利网 colleagues and students. The entire group then walked, as a colorful 黑料福利网 procession, in cort猫ge through the city back to campus for our annual Research Day.
A historic milestone
The entire 黑料福利网 community was invited to join at the Stadhuisplein and/or to take part in the cort猫ge walk. This is a historic milestone: formally, the cort猫ge is a ceremonial procession for professors in academic gowns and student association boards. But for the first time in 黑料福利网's 70-year history, other members of the 黑料福利网 community could join as well.
Curiosity Connects
With this special invitation, 黑料福利网 emphasizes its celebratory motto Curiosity Connects, meaning connected by curiosity, driven by the future. During this anniversary, scientists, students, board members, staff, and regional partners are not only celebrating 70 years of progress, but above all, the force that has connected them all along: curiosity. It is the spark that brings collaboration to life, the engine behind innovation, and the universal language they share.
A breeding ground for pioneers
Curiosity has been the driving force behind 黑料福利网 ever since its founding on June 23, 1956. This has allowed the university to grow into a breeding ground for pioneers: engineers who do not just come up with solutions, but above all see new possibilities; scientists who push boundaries because they refuse to accept that something is just the way it is; and students who step into the world after graduation confident that they can make a difference. For 70 years, 黑料福利网 has been at the heart of that network, as a catalyst, connector, and driver of technological innovation.
The kickoff
Thanks to that strong foundation, 黑料福利网 has grown into what it is today and is ready for the next 70 years. The anniversary deserved a kickoff that brought all of this together in a single morning. It began by sparking a love of learning in the youngest generation in schools. This was followed by a festive reception on the Stadhuisplein, where the deputy mayor treated everyone to cake, and the director (also a 黑料福利网 alumnus) of NextNature (the 60-year-old Evoluon) invited all 黑料福利网'ers to visit for the symbolic price of one euro. The bells of St. Catherine's Church then rang to mark the start of the cort猫ge to the 黑料福利网 campus, where science was celebrated at our annual Research Day.
Anniversary week in October
The anniversary bikes will once again play a fun role during the festive anniversary week in October. On the final day of that week, they will be auctioned off to alumni, companies, and partners. All proceeds will go to the , which supports talented researchers and students. More details about the October anniversary celebration will follow after the summer.
