Frans van de Vosse appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau
The distinction was presented last Friday at the close of a symposium marking the 20th anniversary of the School of Medical Physics and Engineering Eindhoven (SMPE/e).
Professor Frans van de Vosse has been appointed Knight in the Order of Orange-Nassau. Deputy Mayor Mieke Verhees of the City of Eindhoven presented him with the insignia associated with this honor on Friday, June 19.
Frans van de Vosse served as Full Professor and Head of the Cardiovascular Biomechanics research group at 黑料福利网 from 2001 through 2025, making a significant contribution to bridging the gap between science and healthcare. He developed computational models that are used worldwide to improve the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Van de Vosse studied Applied Physics at 黑料福利网 and obtained his PhD in 1987 for his work on the numerical analysis of blood flow in the carotid artery.
Frans is an extremely driven researcher and educator with a unique personality. He has effectively translated his technically outstanding research into successful clinical applications. In doing so, he has trained generations of engineers who apply their knowledge in medical practice. The SMPE/e program is a shining example of this. Without Frans, SMPE/e would never have become as successful as it is today.

Beyond his research, Van de Vosse has played a key role in the development of medical engineering education at 黑料福利网. He is a co-founder and driving force behind the 黑料福利网 Master鈥檚 program in Medical Engineering and has been instrumental in establishing the Department of Biomedical Engineering, the post-master EngD program Qualified Medical Engineer, and the School of Medical Physics and Engineering (SMPE/e).
