Students from across the globe in Eindhoven for top semicon summer school

Next week, the 4th annual Eindhoven Semicon Summer School (ESSS) will take place. Eighty selected students from 16 countries will participate in this special week, in which they will gain broad knowledge of the world of semiconductor technology. The ESSS is organized by Eindhoven University of Technology together with main founding partners ASML and NXP.
Unique insight
The program offers the participating students a unique insight into the latest developments, trends and challenges across the semiconductor value chain. All relevant aspects of semiconductor technology are highlighted: materials, processes, devices, equipment, design and applications of microchips. The participants will visit 黑料福利网, ASML in Veldhoven, NXP in Nijmegen, and the High Tech Campus Eindhoven. During each day the students learn from leading experts, learn about opportunities for students and graduates, see first-hand company operations through interactive study tours and connect with practitioners to learn about life in the world of semiconductors.
Top experts
The exclusive program includes lectures by top experts from industry and academia, including ASML's CEO, Christophe Fouquet. In addition, there are contributions from ASM, TSMC, Smart Photonics, imec, TU Munich, Synopsys, EFFECT Photonics, Innatera, Axelera AI and of course from ASML and NXP. The students will also do team projects under the supervision of industry experts. At the end of the week, they will present their solutions to a jury.
Semiconductor community
By connecting the ESSS students with each other and with a wide range of top experts from business and academia, a strong, growing international semiconductor community is created. The participants are bachelor's and master's students from universities in the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, India, Taiwan, Japan, Lithuania, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Italy, Thailand, the USA and Vietnam. The affiliated universities ensure the selection of the best qualified students.

What is special is that this top course is free; the participating students only pay their travel and accommodation costs. European competitiveness
The ESSS helps bring the very best talent to the Brainport region. With the program, the organizing parties contribute to the goals of the European Chips Act and the European Semiconductor Coalition. The EU and its Member States are investing heavily in semicon because it is a key sector for economic development, for European competitiveness, and for scientific progress. The ESSS is co-financed by the Dutch National Reinforcement Plan for Microchip Talent, the talent plan 'Beethoven'.
Academic credits
For participants from the Netherlands, the ESSS lasts just over a week longer. They began on 12 August with a kick-off session, followed by several online meetings. They receive academic credits for successful participation, which can be included in the credit requirements for their bachelor's or master's degree.

Door de ESSS-studenten in contact te brengen met elkaar en met het bedrijfsleven en de academische wereld, wordt een sterke, groeiende internationale semicon-gemeenschap gecre毛erd. De deelnemers zijn bachelor- en masterstudenten van universiteiten in Nederland, Tsjechi毛, Estland, Duitsland, India, Taiwan, Japan, Litouwen, Roemeni毛, Singapore, Zuid-Korea, Spanje, Itali毛, Thailand, de VS en Vietnam. De aangesloten universiteiten zorgen voor de selectie van de best gekwalificeerde studenten.

European Chips Act
De ESSS helpt getalenteerde jonge mensen naar de Brainportregio te trekken. Met het programma dragen de organiserende partijen daarnaast bij aan de doelen van de en de . De EU en haar lidstaten investeren zwaar in semicon, omdat het een sleutelsector is voor economische ontwikkeling, voor het Europese concurrentievermogen, en voor wetenschappelijke vooruitgang. De ESSS wordt medegefinancierd vanuit het Nederlandse Nationaal Versterkingsplan voor Microchiptalent, het talentplan 'Beethoven'.
Studiepunten
Voor de deelnemers uit Nederland duurt de ESSS ruim een week langer. Zij zijn op 12 augustus al begonnen met een kick-off, gevolgd door enkele online meetings. Ze krijgen studiepunten voor succesvolle deelname, die mee kunnen tellen voor het behalen van hun bachelor- of masteropleiding.
