Statement about incident during lecture
"As Executive Board we want to be fully clear that the reported behavior of the student is unacceptable."
This morning, during a first year Calculus lecture, a seriously troubling incident occurred. It appears that a student made offensive and racist remarks towards fellow students, and gave the Nazi salute. This led to a confrontation between students. The offensive student eventually left the lecture, and the lecture itself was cancelled. The police is informed and is investigating the incident.
As Executive Board we want to be fully clear that the reported behavior of the student at the center of the incident, is unacceptable. It deeply conflicts with our CORe-values. We are therefore searching for this student and we are investigating what happened exactly. Based on the outcome, we will take appropriate measures.
