New Appointments at IE&IS
Effective December 1, IE&IS appoints Daniël Lakens as professor and Albert Schrotenboer as associate professor. Their work highlights advances in open science, research methods statistics and decision support for integrated logistics and energy systems.
The IE&IS Department has appointed Daniël Lakens professor and Albert Schrotenboer associate professor, both as of December 1.
Research made better
Lakens works in the Human Technology Interaction group and focuses on meta science, research methods and applied statistics. He helps researchers design and interpret studies more effectively, with attention to reliable and efficient analyses.
Why it matters
His focus on open science and careful statistical choices increases the quality and transparency of research. That matters to policymakers, industry and social organizations that rely on solid knowledge.
In this role I want to make it easier, together with colleagues and students, to run robust studies so that better decisions become possible.
Daniél Lakens
Logistics meets energy
Schrotenboer conducts operations research for integrated logistics and energy systems in the Operations Planning Accounting and Control group. He develops models and algorithms that provide decision support for integrated logistics and energy systems, for example optimizing charging decisions in battery electric trucking, developing green hydrogen chains, and applying AI to vehicle routing.
Real world effects
By addressing logistics and energy together, his work helps organizations plan more efficiently, reduce emissions and make the energy transition practical, for example in city logistics, battery electric trucking and grid reinforcement projects.
As an associate professor I want to deepen the connection between logistics and energy, with solutions that are directly useful for companies and public organizations.
Albert Schrotenboer
