You and AI: Designing AI-equipped jobs together
This research project focuses on supporting internal auditors with designing an optimal human-AI collaboration at work.
Pascale Le Blanc from the Human Performance Management group (Department of IE&IS) is collaborating with researchers from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and Saxion University of Applied Sciences on the research project ‘You and AI’. As part of the NWA-route ‘Value creation through Responsible AI and Big Data’, this 2-year project focuses on supporting internal auditors with designing an optimal human-AI collaboration at work.
Efficient, satisfying and purposeful work
In a world where technology is taking over more and more tasks, it is crucial to make conscious choices on which tasks are performed by humans and which by AI. This research aims to develop and test a method that enables internal auditors to design a division of labor between themselves and AI that enhances their performance as well as their job quality.
Imagine an auditor performing routine audits. By using AI, e.g., for some (more routine) tasks, the auditor can focus on more complex and strategic work. This not only leads to higher efficiency but also contributes to job satisfaction and a sense of purpose.
Research
The research project consists of three phases. In the first phase, a prototype of the method and an evaluation tool are developed through co-creation with internal auditors and AI experts. The second phase tests the method in two iterative rounds, i.e., a pilot with students and workshops with internal auditors, and improves it based on collected data. The third phase focuses on valorizing the results, by creating accessible products for both science and practice, such as a research report and a workshop guide.
