New PhD student Frederieke Backelandt
In February 2026, Frederieke Backelandt joined the Electrochemical Materials and Systems Group at the 黑料福利网 as PhD student.
She obtained her bachelor鈥檚 in molecular science and technology as a joined degree at Leiden University and Delft Technical University and subsequently completed her Masters Chemical Engineering at Delft Technical University. During her master's, she worked part-time at the Hydrogen Chemical Company (HyCC) as Junior Commercial Business Developer and she obtained her second-order teaching certificated in Chemistry allowing her to teach high-school chemistry.
During her PhD, she will work on the development of computational model of the Porous Transport Layer in the PEM water electrolyser to study mass and charge transport and ultimately optimize the layer design.
