Our mission is to protect pedestrian accessibility during large-scale urban construction by prioritising safe and direct routes. With this plan, we aim to shift the city design from a car-centric city design to a people-centred design that supports everyday urban life, and is accessible even in periods of construction.

Knoop XL construction projects often disrupt pedestrian networks, forcing longer detours, unsafe crossings, and reduced accessibility. These impacts are usually treated as temporary inconveniences, even though it has lasting effects on daily mobility, safety, and daily urban experience, particularly in car-centric areas such as Eindhoven central.

We propose a modular, moveable pedestrian bridge that can be relocated between construction sites. These bridges restore direct connections of routes during construction phases, reduce walking time and create safe crossings. The bridges act as a real-life prototype which allows cities to test people-centred mobility strategies.
