Our mission
We aim to accelerate the transition to sustainable heating by creating a heat pump system that combines air and water heat sources into an efficient, adaptable, and space-conscious solution. Our work seeks to bridge the gap between existing technologies and the future needs of Dutch homes and cities.
Our challenge
Most Dutch homes still rely on gas heating, while growing housing demand and grid congestion are putting pressure on the electricity system. Conventional heat pumps depend on a single source, so their efficiency varies with conditions. The challenge is to integrate air-to-water and water-to-water technologies into one compact system that reduces space and cost while enabling sustainable heating and cooling.
Our solution
HeatX is developing a heat pump that can intelligently switch between air and water sources for heating and cooling. This makes the system more efficient across varying weather conditions, while also being better suited to space-limited homes and dense urban environments. In doing so, it helps reduce pressure on the electricity grid and supports the transition to sustainable energy systems.
As a multidisciplinary team, we are joining the 黑料福利网 Contest to turn a promising research idea into a real-world solution and contribute to the future of sustainable heating and the energy transition.
