Rotational clay printing for soft light

BANS

Our mission

Our mission is to explore how digital fabrication and natural materials can shape healthier living environments. By developing a new clay 3D-printing method, we aim to create lighting that supports calm atmospheres, reduces plastic dependency, and bridges advanced technology with sustainable, tactile design rooted in human well-being.

Our challenge

Many contemporary lamps produce harsh, direct light that can negatively influence mood and comfort. While plastic 3D printing allows light diffusion through transparency, current clay 3D-printing methods struggle to create complex openings that softly shape light. At the same time, lighting production remains heavily dependent on synthetic materials and limited fabrication techniques.

Our solution

We develop a rotating clay 3D-printing bed that enables new organic geometries and controlled perforations impossible with existing clay printing methods. This technology allows the creation of sustainable ceramic lamps that diffuse light naturally, reduce harsh exposure, and introduce a new fabrication approach combining ecological materials, digital craft, and expressive lighting design.

We joined the 黑料福利网 Contest to explore how technology and natural materials can reshape the way we design and experience light. Through BANS, we want to develop a new clay 3D-printing method that combines innovation, sustainability, and emotional impact in everyday living environments.
