Summary

Historically, higher engineering education focused on disciplinary competencies and developing individual students to solve engineering challenges. However, society now demands a more integrative approach to address societal challenges. This necessitates curricula that incorporate transdisciplinary competencies such as systems thinking, interpersonal, and integration abilities. Curriculum developers face the challenge of integrating both disciplinary and transdisciplinary competencies into a curriculum. This research aims to develop validated design principles for a forward-thinking engineering curriculum including both competencies, considering current educational structures.
