AI Agents at work: Technology, Risk, and Organizational Design
Artificial intelligence is rapidly moving from isolated tools to autonomous, goal-directed agents that collaborate with humans and systems. This masterclass, based on the AI Agents at Work book, explores what this shift means for professionals, organizations, and leaders who want to engage with AI agents in a realistic, responsible, and forward-looking way.
We begin with a concrete vision of work in 2028. In this near future, AI agents are no longer experimental prototypes but embedded colleagues: planning tasks, coordinating workflows, interacting with tools, and operating under explicit constraints. What does such a working environment look like? What changes for decision-making, accountability, and professional roles? This opening session sets the stage for the deeper technical and organizational discussions that follow.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
- We unpack the technology behind AI agents. Starting from early computing paradigms, we trace the development through machine learning and large language models (LLMs) to modern agentic systems that combine reasoning, memory, tools, and guardrails. The focus is not on hype, but on understanding what these systems can and cannot do, and why.
- We address risks and constraints. Beyond well-known issues such as hallucinations and bias, we examine risks introduced by tool use, multi-step autonomy, prompt injection, and agent-to-agent interaction. Particular attention is paid to questions of agent identity, authorization, and rights management, as well as the practical implications of the EU AI Act for organizations deploying agentic systems.
- We explore the concept of the 鈥渁gentic organization.鈥 How can organizations structure processes, roles, and governance to benefit from AI agents without losing control? Where do you start, and how do you scale responsibly?
Throughout the masterclass, participants will actively work with these concepts by designing and building a simple AI agent themselves, making the abstract concrete.
This masterclass is designed for:
-
Professionals looking to apply AI in processes, products or decision-making
-
Managers and policymakers shaping strategic AI decisions
-
Innovation, data and IT specialists seeking the next step in AI capability
-
EAISI Academy alumni wanting to stay ahead of emerging AI developments
-
Anyone who wants a practical understanding of what agentic AI really entails
No deep technical background is required, just curiosity and interest in how AI systems work.
