Harm Bodewes combines decades of hands-on experience with a great passion for education. In his lectures, he challenges participants to bring in their own cases while offering in-depth insights from the many data models, tools, and frameworks he has applied in practice.

Expertise

Harm Bodewes is an expert in data strategy, data management, data modeling, and data quality. He has held senior leadership positions across various sectors, including ICT, logistics, and financial services. Harm was responsible for implementing data strategies at SaaS companies, railways, banks, and other organizations.

In his teaching, Harm bridges the gap between theory and practice. He covers frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK, data management tooling, and realistic modeling cases. Since December 2024, he has also been a professor at HAS Green Academy, where he leads the Research Group on Data Intelligence for Sustainable Transitions. His research focuses on knowledge modeling, remote sensing, digital twins, generative AI, and data & ethics.

Biography

Harm Bodewes graduated from Tilburg University in 1991 with a degree in Information Management. His thesis compared Entity Relationship Modeling with NIAM, marking the starting point of his career in data modeling.

Since then, he has worked as Director at Transfer Solutions and as Director of Data & Analytics at Vanderlande. In 2020, he founded his own consultancy practice. Today, he leads a team of over 50 data professionals at a Dutch bank and has worked with clients such as ProRail, Bynder, Northpool, and Pipple.

Alongside his work as a lecturer and consultant, Harm has held a part-time position since December 2024 as a professor at HAS Green Academy (two days per week).

Harm lives in Culemborg, is married, and has three adult sons.
