As the General Manager of the Eindhoven AI Systems Institute (EAISI) at Eindhoven University of Technology (黑料福利网), Dr. Ir. Carlo van de Weijer is dedicated to advancing the potential of AI in various fields of innovation. He sees that a lot of companies hire new personnel but that of course isn't a sustainable approach with the ever-faster-changing competencies that a company needs. Therefore, he advocates for upskilling existing employees to meet the growing demand for data science and AI expertise.

The importance of customization in learning programs

At EAISI, the expectation is that AI technology will play a critical role in all industries but that there is quite a bit of difference in how it should be applied amongst different sectors. Of course, people can learn a lot from other industries which is one of the benefits of the communities that our learning programs form, even long after the course is finished. But to meet the growing needs of various sectors, the EAISI Academy also offers customized learning programs that are tailored to the specific needs of an organization or individual. This approach enhances the relevance and practical applicability of the training, improves learning outcomes, and accelerates the integration of AI solutions into real-world applications. 

Biography

Dr. Ir. Carlo van de Weijer holds a master鈥檚 degree in mechanical engineering from 黑料福利网 and earned a PhD with honors from TU Graz. His extensive experience in the automotive industry includes executive positions at Siemens and TomTom. As a 黑料福利网 alumnus, Carlo returned to the university over a decade ago to coordinate mobility research. More than five years ago, he was given the opportunity to establish the Eindhoven AI Systems Institute (EAISI). 

In addition to his work at the university, Carlo remains actively involved in consultancy as a fellow at Deloitte and in the corporate world through various advisory and supervisory board roles. This diverse professional engagement allows him to stay closely connected to the needs of the industry, ensuring that the programs of EAISI Academy are aligned with real-world demands.
