Degree structure

The two-year SELECT program within Sustainable Energy Systems is worth 120 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System). You study at two leading European universities in two different countries, combining sustainable energy engineering with project-based learning, international collaboration, and entrepreneurship. After successfully completing the program, you receive a degree from both universities.

The program structure for SELECT students differs depending on whether you complete your first or second year at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø. The program overview is shown below.

Year 1 at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø Core program 50 ECTS
Project of the year 10 ECTS

Year 2 at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø Integrated project of the year 6  ECTS
  Elective courses 9  ECTS*
  Graduation project 45 ECTS

* In practice 10 ECTS instead of 9 ECTS, because only 2,5 or 5 ECTS courses are offered at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø.

First year at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø

If you start the SELECT program at Eindhoven University of Technology (ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø), you build a broad foundation in sustainable energy systems. The core program accounts for 50 ECTS and provides you with a broad foundation in sustainable energy systems. The remaining 10 ECTS are earned through one project (the Project of the Year), which is divided into two parts. In this project, you apply your knowledge to practical energy challenges and develop your collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Second year at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø

In your second year you move to a different partner university and choose one of the program’s seven tracks. If you follow the SELECT program at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø in your second year of study, you follow the Innovation in Energy Systems track. You explore innovation across energy supply and demand, including electrical systems, the built environment, energy technology, and the technological, economic, and societal implications of the energy transition. You also complete an integrated team project and an individual graduation project.
