The transition to sustainable energy requires more than developing individual technologies. Renewable energy generation, storage, electricity and heat networks, buildings, transport, markets and policy must all work together. In the Master's track SELECT, part of the MSc Sustainable Energy Technology at 黑料福利网, you learn to evaluate these connections and design integrated solutions for future energy systems. 

SELECT offers a unique international learning experience in collaboration with InnoEnergy, a leading European innovation ecosystem for sustainable energy. During this two-year program, you study at two leading European universities in two different countries. You combine a broad foundation in sustainable energy engineering with an area of focus that matches your interests and ambitions. Alongside your technical studies, you develop skills in innovation, entrepreneurship and international collaboration. By working on real-life energy challenges with fellow students, researchers and industry partners, you learn how to turn engineering knowledge into solutions that are technologically sound, economically viable and socially responsible.

What will you learn?

In the Master鈥檚 track SELECT, you learn how individual energy technologies can be combined to create reliable, efficient and sustainable energy systems. Rather than focusing on one technology in isolation, you explore the connections between renewable energy generation, storage, electricity and heat, buildings, transport and energy markets. This systems perspective helps you understand how a decision in one part of the energy system can affect the system as a whole. 

During the first year, you establish a broad foundation in sustainable energy engineering. Depending on your chosen university, you study subjects such as renewable energy technologies, power systems, energy storage, energy efficiency, smart grids and energy use in the built environment. You also examine the economic, environmental and societal context of the energy transition through topics such as energy markets, climate policy and sustainability. Data science and artificial intelligence are incorporated into the program to help you analyze complex systems and develop data-driven solutions. 

In the second year, you continue your studies at another European partner university and choose an area of focus. The available study paths cover areas such as combined energy systems, Energy-to-X and CO鈧 management, innovation in energy systems, offshore energy, digital energy systems and circularity. At 黑料福利网, the Innovation in Energy Systems focus area allows you to explore innovation in energy supply and demand, with attention to electrical systems, the built environment, energy technologies and their wider economic and societal implications. 

Throughout the program, you apply your knowledge in interdisciplinary, project-based assignments. You work in international teams on real-life challenges provided by industry partners, developing solutions that consider both technical performance and business feasibility. These projects strengthen your skills in project management, communication, stakeholder collaboration and decision-making. 

You also follow an integrated innovation and entrepreneurship program. You learn how to identify opportunities, develop a business model and evaluate whether an engineering solution can create value in practice. By combining technical expertise with an international outlook and entrepreneurial mindset, SELECT prepares you to contribute to the development and implementation of sustainable energy systems around the world.
