Explore our research and its impact
At ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø, mathematical research is closely connected to the scientific, technological, and societal questions of today. Our research starts with curiosity and develops into deeper mathematical insights across complex phenomena, uncertainty, modern digital systems, and more. As an IAM student, you become part of a research-driven environment where your courses and projects reflect new developments in mathematics and respond to the changing needs of the real world.
As an IAM student, you learn in an environment where research informs courses, projects, and real-world impact.
If you are aiming for a research-oriented or theoretical career, the program offers direct connections to cutting-edge research while providing a strong theoretical and methodological foundation for future academic research.
Research in Industrial and Applied Mathematics is supported by three research clusters:
-
The Center for Analysis, Scientific Computing and Applications (CASA):
Develop analytical and numerical methods to model and simulate complex phenomena in data-driven computational science, mathematical image analysis, applied analysis, quantum and molecular dynamics, computational optics, and scientific computing.
-
Statistics, Probability and Operations Research (SPOR):
Study systems shaped by data, randomness, and uncertainty, and develop mathematical methods to analyze, predict, and optimize them through fields such as statistics, probability, stochastic operations research, and combinatorial optimization.
-
Discrete Mathematics (DM) :
Explore the mathematical structures behind modern digital systems, including cryptography, communication theory, and discrete algebra and geometry.
If you are aiming for a research-oriented or theoretical career, the program offers direct connections to cutting-edge research while providing a strong theoretical and methodological foundation for future academic research.
