Interested in the Master鈥檚 Program in Electrical Engineering but has a gap been identified between your educational background and the admission criteria for the MSc Electrical Engineering program? The pre-master might be an option for you!  The pre-master programs of Electrical Engineering are deficiency resolving programs of 30 ECTS to bridge theoretical knowledge of Electrical Engineering. The pre-master prepares you for the Master鈥檚 program if you do not yet meet all admission requirements.

THERE ARE TWO TYPES OF PRE-MASTER PROGRAMS

• Pre-master for Dutch University of Applied Sciences (HBO) students
  Students with a related Dutch University of Applied Sciences (HBO) bachelor鈥檚 degree can follow a pre-master to bridge the gap between applied sciences and the theoretical foundation required at university level.
   
• Pre-master for university bachelor students
  Students with a related university Bachelor鈥檚 degree outside Electrical Engineering may need a pre-master to gain the required electrical engineering knowledge before starting the Master鈥檚 program.

The pre-master consists of a maximum of 30 ECTS and must be completed within one academic year. Pre-masters start in September of each academic year. Depending on your educational background, you will follow one of two pre-master programs.

CURRICULUM FOR HBO BACHELORS

CURRICULUM FOR UNIVERSITY BACHELORS

After successfully completing the pre-master, you can be admitted to the Master's Program of Electrical Engineering.

As an HBO bachelor鈥檚 student you can follow part of the pre-master program for HBO Bachelor's students as your minor. After graduating from your HBO program and completing the rest of the pre-master program, you can continue directly into the Master's program for HBO bachelor's students. Make sure to enroll through Studielink before the May 1 deadline. Our HBO TOP Electrical Engineering program is currently only open to HBO students with a directly admissible degree namely Electrical Engineering (Elektrotechniek), Mechatronics (Mechatronica) from institutions Avans, Fontys and Hogeschool Zuyd.

Please, take into account that the pre-master program of Electrical Engineering comprises four quarters, which means that the pre-master program cannot fully be completed within the minor (a minor normally lasts 2 quarters). HBO graduates who did not fully complete the pre-master program as a HBO-top student, can continue as a pre-master student once they have successfully completed their applicable HBO degree and follow the remaining deficiency courses until the pre-master program is finished.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The admission and registration for a pre-master program relating to a master鈥檚 program is open to those in possession of a Dutch Higher Vocational Education (HBO) diploma or a Dutch university (WO) bachelor degree certificate as well as a maximum of a 30-credit deficiency to be able to follow the master program. Other degrees
For students with a different degree than those listed above, the Departmental Admissions Committee (DAC) will, after application via , asses the eligibility to the pre-master program. They will conclude whether or not admittance to the pre-master is possible.
