The Master’s Program of Electrical Engineering at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø is a two-year program with each year consisting of 60 credits. During these two years, you will follow core courses, professional and personal development courses, and electives, and choose a Master’s track of your interest. You will also do an internship and carry out your final graduation project. The program is taught in English.

Year 1
In your first year of the Master’s Program of Electrical Engineering at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø, you build a well-rounded foundation in the field and explore where your interests lie. You follow a combination of core courses and education focused on professional and personal development. At the same time, you get the space to shape your own study path within Electrical Engineering with a Master’s track and electives.
A SHARED FIRST QUARTER
The first quarter of year 1 is a fixed program for all students and is designed to provide a smooth transition into the Master's program. Alongside building a strong student community, you will explore the different tracks through Choose Your Track activities, such as lab visits, study trips, mini homologation modules, workshops, meet-the-researcher sessions, and Q&A events. This helps you make a well-informed choice about the track that best matches your interests and ambitions.
CORE COURSES
The shared first quarter also includes two core courses (10 ECTS) that build a solid foundation in abstract and model-based thinking within Electrical Engineering. These courses prepare you for the in-depth courses and challenges within your chosen track.

PROFESSIONAL & PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
In quarter 1 of year 1, you are given training to develop your professional and personal capabilities. This is done through two Professional & Personal Development courses (5 ECTS).
- Professional Development (2.5 ECTS): Supports you in developing your professional identity. You work on skills such as self-awareness, personal branding, and making informed choices regarding your study path and future career.
- Research Set-Up (2.5 ECTS): Supports you in developing your professional identity. You work on skills such as self-awareness, personal branding, and making informed choices regarding your study path and future career.
TRACK-SPECIFIC COURSES
In quarter 2 of year 1, you start your chosen track, allowing you to develop expertise in a specific area of Electrical Engineering. In quarters 2–4, you follow 6 track-specific courses (30 ECTS) that deepen and broaden your knowledge within this domain. Within each track, there is room for choice: you select a track line, in which you follow courses that focus on a specific subdomain within the track. Depending on your track you may follow courses such as:

Master's tracks
ELECTIVES
To further tailor your studies to your interests, you will use 15 ECTS of electives. These electives can also be used to extend your internship. Choose from a wide range of Electrical Engineering electives or broaden your perspective with technical or non-technical courses. You can also select electives from other ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø departments, from other universities, and even from universities abroad to gain international experience. For this, approval of the Examination Committee is required.
Year 2
In your second year of the Master's Program of Electrical Engineering at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø, you focus on applying theory in practice and exploring your future career in Electrical Engineering. You gain practical experience through an internship and a graduation project.
INTERNSHIP
Our program includes a three-month internship (15 ECTS) to help you get to know the wide scope of the electrical engineering profession. You can do the internship within one of our nine Electrical Engineering research groups, which are shown at the bottom of the page, but also within a company or abroad. The internship prepares you for the larger graduation project. The ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø encourages Master’s students to go abroad to experience cultural differences and working in international teams. The internship is a unique opportunity on a professional, technological and social level.
Our students travel as far as Australia, Japan, Singapore, Argentina and the USA, as well as destinations closer to home like Munich or Leuven. You can choose to do an internship at a university such as the University of Rio de Janeiro, or companies like Siemens in Germany. More locally, multinationals such as ASML, Océ, NXP and Philips are popular destinations, but there are also opportunities at numerous smaller companies. Finally, many start-ups also offer internship projects for our students.
GRADUATION PROJECT
The program concludes with an eight-month research project (45 ECTS) in which you prove yourself as an electrical engineer. During the project, you will travel down roads that no one has taken before, using what you have learnt and the skills you have developed to create new knowledge and designs. The result of the project tends to be a new product, a tool, a scientific journal publication, a presentation at an international conference or a patent.
