ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø

is an extracurricular program that runs alongside your master's degree. It is open to students in the Applied Physics master's track Optics and Photonics and eligible students from the Electrical Engineering master's program. 

Designed for motivated students who want to go beyond the regular curriculum, the program combines academic excellence with involvement with the optics/photonics industry, international networking, and professional development. 

Through specialised courses, challenge-based projects, networking activities, and collaboration with leading researchers and companies, you gain valuable experience beyond your master's curriculum. 

Phortify

At ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø, participation in the Master Plus Program also includes the involvement in Phortify. is a European initiative that connects students, universities, research organisations, and companies across the international photonics sector. 

Partners include universities such as ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø, UGent, VUB, Politecnico di Milano, and Friedrich Schiller University Jena, as well as organisations including ICFO, Leibniz IPHT, Smart Photonics, and Active Fiber Systems. 

Through international collaboration, workshops, networking opportunities, and community activities, students expand their professional network and gain insight into the European photonics ecosystem. 

As a Master-Plus participant at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø, you become part of the Phortify community and can apply for Phortify Grants to support your studies and activities that contribute to your academic and professional development within the international photonics community.  

The Master Plus Program is intended for motivated students with an interest in optics and photonics, who are starting in the Applied Physics master's track Optics and Photonics or students following the Semicon or Connected World tracks within the Electrical Engineering master's program. In both cases choosing a minimum of three optics/photonics electives is required for participation to the MasterPlus program. . 

Participation is voluntary and takes place alongside your regular master's curriculum.

Here’s how it works!

Students become eligible to join the Master Plus Program after starting their Master studies in the optics and photonics domain. This includes students from the Applied Physics master's track Optics and Photonics and eligible students from the Electrical Engineering master's program. 

Interested students can apply after the start of their master's program. To register to the MasterPlus program and for questions about MasterPlus and Phortify, please contact masterplusop@tue.nl 

The MasterPlus also supports students relocating from abroad with a Relocation Contribution. If you wish to apply for this (for students relocating from abroad), you must do this before 15 October by sending following documents to masterplusop@remove-this.tue.nl: a motivation letter, a copy of the admission letter you received from ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø, the BSc diploma (or a certificate with exams and grades) from your university, and your curriculum vitae.

Up to 15 relocation contributions (2,000€ each) will be allocated on the basis of academic excellence and the motivation to participate to the program. Additionally, we will provide information and support regarding accommodation and part-time jobs to MasterPlus students in order to facilitate their relocation.
