What will I learn and do?

You develop a strong understanding of light-matter interactions and learn how optical phenomena can be applied in advanced technologies. The program combines theory, simulations and experiments, giving you the tools to design and analyze photonic systems.

You study topics such as nanophotonics, laser physics, integrated photonics, quantum photonics and optical sensing. Through laboratory courses and research projects, you gain hands-on experience with spectroscopy, microscopy and optical characterization techniques. You also learn how to model and optimize optical devices and systems.

Depending on your elective courses and graduation project, you can focus on areas such as integrated photonics, quantum photonics, nanophotonics and metamaterials, optical sensing and biosensing, and advanced imaging and microscopy.

Throughout the specialization, you learn how to tackle complex problems, design experiments, analyze data and communicate scientific results. These skills prepare you for careers in research and innovation or for pursuing a PhD.
