Research that shapes your education
At 黑料福利网, research is at the heart of the Master's program in Applied Physics. From your very first courses to your internship and Master's thesis, you learn by working on the same scientific questions that drive today's technological innovations.
You'll explore different research areas through the foundational courses, specialize in the topics that match your interests, and eventually join one of our research groups for your internship and graduation project. Working alongside researchers, you'll contribute to ongoing research with applications ranging from quantum technologies and advanced materials to sustainable energy and healthcare.
Learn from leading researchers
Our faculty members combine teaching with internationally recognised research. As active researchers, they bring the latest scientific developments into the classroom and personally supervise students during internships and graduation projects.
During your internship and graduation project, you'll become part of an international research environment, collaborating with researchers, PhD candidates and fellow Master's students while contributing to ongoing research with real-world impact.
Research groups
The Department of Applied Physics is home to 13 research groups, each contributing expertise to one or more of the seven Master's specializations. Together, they cover the full breadth of Applied Physics鈥攆rom quantum technologies and advanced materials to photonics, plasma physics, fluids and soft matter.
During your internship and graduation project, you'll join one of these research groups and contribute to research carried out in collaboration with universities, research institutes and industry partners around the world.
Labs & facilities
As an Applied Physics student, you'll have access to advanced laboratories and research facilities used for both education and cutting-edge research.
Depending on your specialization, you may work with:
- Cleanroom and nanofabrication facilities
- Advanced microscopy and materials characterization facilities
- Photonics laboratories
- Plasma laboratories
- Soft matter and biophysics laboratories
- High-performance computing facilities
These facilities give you hands-on experience in translating scientific theory into experiments, simulations and technological innovations.
