The information on this page applies to applications of the ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø Scholarship for Excellence: Shaping the Future of Microchip Innovation for the academic year 2027–2028. Conditions and deadlines may differ in future academic years.

At ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø, we are looking for highly talented international students who want to shape the future of microchip technology. The ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø Scholarship for Excellence is a unique opportunity for top students applying to a Master’s program (or a specific Master's track within that program) in one of the following departments:
Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mathematics & Computer Science.

The eligible Master's programs - or a specific Master's track within that program include:

• MSc Applied Physics
• MSc Artificial Intelligence and Engineering Systems
• MSc Automotive Technology
• MSc Computer Science and Engineering, including the Cybersecurity and Systems and Artificial Intelligence tracks
• MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence
• MSc Electrical Engineering
• MSc Embedded Systems
• MSc Industrial and Applied Mathematics, including the Quantum Science and Technology and AI Fundamentals tracks
• MSc Mechanical Engineering, including the Aerospace Systems Engineering track
• MSc Science and Technology of Nuclear Fusion
• MSc Sustainable Energy Technology
• MSc Systems and Control

These scholarships are funded by the national Beethoven Program, a strategic investment from the Dutch government to accelerate innovation in the microchip sector. 

You can apply if you:

• Have applied for a full-time Master’s program at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø (see table above) for the 2027-2028 academic year, starting on 1 September 2027. 
• Meet the specific admission requirements of the Master’s program to which you have applied. 
• Completed a non-Dutch high school diploma or university bachelor’s degree (or both). 
• Have not completed higher education (university or university of applied sciences) in the Netherlands (exchange programs are allowed). 
• Have excellent academic results, as demonstrated by your latest grade transcript (GPA ≥ 7.5/10). 
• Will meet all requirements for obtaining a Dutch entry visa and residence permit. 
• Are not applying for a joint Master’s with Tilburg University (JADS) or a . 
• Have not been admitted based on an admission decision from a previous intake. 
  
  Please note: This is a very competitive scholarship – only about 2% of applicants will receive it.

You are considered for the ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø Scholarship for Excellence if you:

1. Apply for a Master’s program (or one of its tracks) in one of the eligible departments. 

2. Submit your complete application by 1 January 2027, 23:59 CET. 

3. Confirm in your application that you would like to be considered for the scholarship and include a brief motivation explaining why you believe you are a strong candidate. 

4. Meet all scholarship eligibility requirements listed above. 

After the 1 January deadline, the scholarship selection procedure will start: 

1. ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø International Office checks all applications for eligibility.

2. Eligible applications are sent to the Scholarship Selection Committee, consisting of: Rector Magnificus, Dean of Education, Director Finance & Control, and Director Education & Student Affairs. 

3. The Scholarship Selection Committee assesses and ranks all eligible applications. 

4. The ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø International Office confirms the selections by the end of March 2027 and will inform the selected candidates. If you are selected for a scholarship, you will be asked to sign a scholarship agreement. 

Please note: The selection outcome cannot be appealed, scholarships cannot be deferred, are non-transferable to Master’s programs outside of Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Mathematics & Computer Science, and the award amount is final and non-negotiable. 

• Approx. 35 scholarships available: 20 for EEA students, 15 for non-EEA. 

• €7,500 per academic year, for two years (if enrolled and meeting the study progress requirements). 

• The scholarships are not full scholarships and do not cover the total cost of your studies. You should be prepared to contribute significantly to your tuition and living expenses 

• Paid in monthly instalments to a Dutch (or SEPA) bank account. 

• Non-EEA students must still show proof of sufficient financial means for visa/residence permit purposes. 

Beyond financial support, the scholarship is a recognition of academic merit and potential, enhancing your CV and professional profile. 

• First-year performance: at least 45 ECTS to receive the second-year scholarship. 

• Expected to graduate within 36 months.

ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø participates in the national NL Scholarship program (formerly the Holland Scholarship) for talented non-EEA students. For non-EEA students, this means that part of your ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø Scholarship for Excellence is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (first year of study only). You cannot apply separately for the NL Scholarship.  

In addition to the ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø Scholarship for Excellence, four Changemaker Scholarships are available through the TSH Talent Foundation (The Social Hub). These scholarships are intended for talented and motivated students who have demonstrated a commitment to creating positive change in their community and who may face barriers in accessing higher education.  

The program complements an academic scholarship by offering additional support, including housing for 10 months, mentoring, personal and professional development opportunities, and access to an international changemaker community. More information can be found on the . 

You are considered for a Changemaker Scholarship if you: 

1. Apply for a Master’s program (or one of its tracks) in one of the eligible departments.

2. Submit your complete application by 1 January 2027, 23:59 CET. 

3. Confirm in your application that you would like to be considered for the scholarship and include a brief motivation explaining why you are a strong candidate, including your commitment to creating positive impact and any relevant experiences or achievements. 

4. Meet all scholarship eligibility requirements listed above. 

The TSH Talent Foundation confirms the selections by the end of March 2027 and will inform the selected candidates. Further communication regarding the Changemaker Scholarship, including any administrative, financial, or contractual matters, will be handled directly between the TSH Talent Foundation and the selected student. ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø has no further involvement in the administration or awarding of the scholarship.
