Personal circumstances & support

Every student's situation is different. You may need additional support due to a disability, chronic illness, neurodivergence, personal circumstances, or mental health concerns. Or you may be combining your studies with high-level sports, culture, or entrepreneurship.

At ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø, we are committed to supporting you throughout your studies. We work with you to identify the support services and study arrangements that best fit your situation, enabling you to make informed choices and get the most out of your student experience.

Starting at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø soon?

Do you already know that you may need extra support during your studies?

If you are applying for or starting a degree program at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø, indicate this in Studielink and contact our student counselors as early as possible, preferably at least three months before the start of the academic year. This gives us enough time to discuss your situation and, where applicable, arrange support or facilities before your studies begin.

This also applies if you are combining your studies with high-level sports, culture, or entrepreneurship.

If you already know that you may need support, or would like to discuss your situation before starting your studies, this is the right moment to contact our student counselors. We encourage you to reach out early so we can prepare together for your start at ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø.

Examples include:

  • Neurodivergence (such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, or giftedness)
  • A sensory or functional impairment
  • A chronic or temporary illness
  • Pregnancy or parenting responsibilities
  • Mental health challenges
  • Top-level sports, culture, or entrepreneurship (dual career)

In some cases, standard facilities such as a 10-minute examination time extension per hour can be arranged. To request this, you do not need an appointment with a student counselor. After uploading an expert’s report via the digital registration form (sent in July), we will ensure the arrangement is in place before the start of the academic year.

Our student counselors will discuss your situation with you and help determine which support options may be available.

If your circumstances affect your studies, ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø offers guidance and support to help you make informed decisions about your study progress and reduce study delay where possible.

Support is coordinated through your student counselor and academic advisor. Together, they will explore your situation and discuss which study arrangements or support services may be appropriate.

  • Adjustments to exams or learning conditions
  • Flexible study planning or temporary schedule changes
  • Guidance in case of study delay or personal circumstances affecting your progress
  • Advice on financial or administrative support options
  • Referral to additional ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø support services, such as student psychologists or study support specialists

Where to go for support

In most cases, your first point of contact is:

  • Student counselor – independent advice, financial support arrangements, information about the binding recommendation on the continuation of studies (BSA)
  • Academic advisor – for study planning, advice on course selection, and adjustments within your program

If needed, you may also be referred to other support services such as student psychologists or study support specialists.

Dual career (sports, culture & entrepreneurship)

If you perform at a high level in sport, culture, or entrepreneurship, ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø offers support to help combine these commitments with your studies.
